Rules for Seeding And Ranking 2026

REGULATIONS FOR RANKING & SEEDING FOR THE YEAR 2026
  1. Seeding in the State Ranking Tournaments shall be made by the Technical Committee along with Competition Manager/Chief Referee, who is appointed by the TSTTA for each tournament.
  2. The seeding shall be placed in the draw according to the rules laid down by the Table Tennis Federation of India.
  3. Last date of entries should be 7 days before the commencement of the tournament.
  4. Draws to be held at least 5 days before the tournament.
    SYSTEM FOR AWARDING OF POINTS FOR STATE RANKING TOURNAMENTS. The points will be awarded as per the following table:

    Note: If a player qualifies for the main draw, the points allotted will be only as per the corresponding main draw round – points for group wins will not be added.

  5. The ranking of 2025 shall be considered for the seeding of the first ranking tournament in 2026.
  6. From the 2nd tournament onwards, the best performance points in last four tournaments shall be considered for seeding.
  7. If the entries are more than 48 in any event, the top 8 seeded players will be placed in the main draw directly and the rest shall play the qualifying rounds and qualify for the main draw. The lots to be taken out according to the serial numbers.
  8. And if the entries are less than 48 in any event, there will be direct main draw.
  9. Chief Referee & Technical Committee members will finalize the fixtures and others can observe without interference, as it is an open draw.
  10. Any player who does not participate in the State Ranking tournament but having a higher rank in the top 32 in the Country should be considered for the seeding, for e.g.; player participating in National Ranking, National Camp or International tournaments during the current year.
  11. If a player not having a higher ranking in the country & if he does not participate in the tournament his points accumulated in the State Ranking tournaments should be considered for seeding.
  12. PATTERN OF SEEDING –
    1 & 2 SEEDING - by points
    3 & 4 SEEDING - inter change
    5 to 8 SEEDING - Inter Change by lots
    9 to 12 SEEDING - inter change by lots
    13 to 16 SEEDING – inter change by lots
  13. 13. The player who played with the same player in the same round in the last two tournament may be avoided to play again in Pre-Quarter Final Stage & Quarter Final Stage & the player may be placed by following a lot system in ascending order.
  14. Players having the same points shall be considered for seeding by taking lot in ascending order.
DRAW FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP:

Total points accumulated by players from best four State Ranking Tournaments shall be considered for seeding for the State Championships.
Players having the same points should be considered for seeding by taking lot in ascending order.
There shall not be any interchange in seeding for State Championships.

System of Play:

  1. Team Events for Men, Women & Junior boys & Junior Girls will be conducted on New Swaythling Cup basis.
  2. Each team will consist of minimum 3 players and maximum of 4 players for Junior Boys/Girls Team event.
  3. For Men & women Team event, each team will consist of minimum 4 players and maximum of 5 players.
  4. The team events will be best of 5 singles. All individual matches in the Team events will be determined by the best of 5 Games.
  5. Order of Play shall be:
    • A Vs X
    • B Vs Y
    • C Vs Z
    • A Vs Y
    • B Vs X
  6. Team events will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage all teams will be divided in groups of 3 or 4 teams and they play the league matches. Two teams from each group qualify for the second stage which will be held on a knockout basis to decide the Winners.
  7. There will not be any match for positions 3 and 4.

PENALTY:

  • Any player who gives a walkover without any valid reason in any State Ranking Tournaments / State Championships & Inter District Championships may be awarded a penalty of minus 20 points which will be deducted from his/her accumulated ranking points.
  • An entry once given can be withdrawn by the player or his/her representative before the last date of withdrawal as per prospectus issued from time to time.
  • The regulations for alteration to the draw will be in made in consultation with the Technical Committee – TSTTA.
  • The above regulations shall be read in conjunction with the rules for the State Ranking Tournaments.
  • On regulations not covered above, the decision of the Executive Committee of the TSTTA shall be final and binding to all.
